I learned a lot this year in digital design and animation. A lot of this stuff is gonna be useful to me maybe for the rest of my life if I do end up taking up a career in animation. One of the main takeaways I had from this class was how to use all of these programs. When I first set foot in this classroom I had never used any of these programs before in my life, not even photoshop. I think learning how to use things like Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, and all of the other programs we used in this class are a great advantage to have. As our society relies on technology more and more for things, it's extremely useful to know how to use it. Another major takeaway was learning how to 3D model. I have wanted to explore 3D modeling for a very long time now but I just never knew how. At first glance it seems like something that would be very complicated but this class broke it down and taught me how to do it. Something in this class that felt the most rewarding might have been getting that last 3D animation project. Of course it wasn't the best that I could have ever done but I had to drop everything else I was doing and focus on that and turning it in was so satisfactory. Something that i learned that I believe will follow me into the future is definitely everything we learned about animation. I've wanted to be an animator ever since I was a little kid and even if I didn't finish all of my animation assignments I still learned a lot. This summer I am going to be going to an animation camp and I believe that all my knowlege on things like keyframes and the principles of animation will definitely benefit me. Also like I previously stated, I think I'll carry my newly developed skills in programs such as photoshop with me because that is a program that is used all the time for school, work, editing, and a lot more. Graphic explaining this course is below. Summary is below graphic. Summary: I learned a lot this year. Some takeaways were the programs I learned to use and the things I learned about animation.

I recently started using modifiers in 3DS Max and they're kind of strange. It's weird how drastically they can change he look of something. Some of them barely change the model they're used on. I still have a lot to learn with them but so far they seem really interesting. I tried playing around with them and some of the more technical ones are a bit too complicated for me to get at the moment. I liked the one that gave the model fur, I thought it was funny. I feel like having these available is gonna really change the way I model. I do think that subjects are maybe a little easier to work with than modifiers for me since I often accidentally cancel out another modifier by clicking on a different one. It just confuses me. So far I've made some mushrooms and rocks and started working on a flower and I think it just gets easier as you go on because my second rock ended up looking a lot better than the first one. I cant wait to put the whole scene together. I also can't wait to start doing 3D animation, I don't have that much time left audit really interests me. Animation doesn't actually look way too complicated with 3DS Max and it definitely looks a lot less tedious than Adobe Illustrator was. I didn't like having to save each individual frame very much. From what I saw, the animation in 3DS Max is kind of like working with After Effects but that might not be true when I actually work with it.
To sum it up:
3ds Max is something I've actually really enjoyed working with since we first started using it. I think that I have come along way too. We started off with a snowman and a pencil and now I just modelled a futuristic world. I've always wanted to start 3D modelling but I never knew how to; but now I can! I started with basic shaped like a sphere but now I know how to use modifiers to turn a cube into a sphere. I think my favorite thing I've made so far was that cartoon head but I'm looking forward to making things that are even more advanced. Especially the plant stuff like the mushrooms and flowers. I also can't wait to learn how to animate with 3D models. I think I've liked 3D modelling all the way through..from the time we started until now. I want to be an animator someday and nowadays 3D animation is probably what ther majority of animated movies are done with. I hope that someday I'll be able to animate my own 3D characters. I think this is one of my favorite units of the year and I can't wait to continue. That is the cartoon face that I did and I am actually very proud of it!
I've been playing Smash Bros games since I was little. When the family got together during holidays we'd always set up a tournament. I was always a big fan of Kirby since I played the Kirby games on my DSI. Kirby is still one of the most important characters in Smash Ultimate, especially at the beginning of the story. It's crazy to see how much he's evolved through time. Smash Ultimate has a to of characters and even characters from games that you would never imagine having characters participate in this game. Characters like Joker from Person would be unthinkable to be in Smash in the past but now it's a reality! Something I love about Smash Ultimate is just how easy it is to play with your friends. The online features cost a little extra but they're definitely worth it. There's even an app created specifically to voice chat online, although that could use some work. Before I got Smash Ultimate it had been around a year since I'd played Smash but this game got me invested again. Even friends the I meet over the internet can play the game with me if they have it. These are just a few reasons I love this game, it made me love Smash Bros again because of it!
So far in class we've used 3 programs, one being after effects, another being adobe animate, and the last being adobe premiere. These programs are different and similar in a lot of ways and certain programs are better for certain things. Adobe premiere and after effects are a little bit more similar to each other than they are to adobe animate and are more for the purpose of video editing than animation. Also just the layout of the programs for adobe premiere and after effects looks pretty similar. So far I'm not sure which program is my favorite because I haven't gotten to use them very much but if I had to pick one I'd say after effects because I have the most experience with it as of now. I would like to use adobe animate more because it seems like an interesting application with a lot of possibilities and it doesn't seem that hard to use. Also the fact that I want to become an animator someday plays into that as well. I'm not really sure how to feel about adobe premiere yet because so far it feels very similar to after effects, but I am willing to give it more of a chance and I'd like to use it more and have more experience with the application. That describes how I feel about these programs so far but I still have more to learn about them, As someone who's been absent recently I haven't gotten to experience premiere very much so I'm waiting to see how it'll compare more to the other applications mentioned.
Summary:
A big component of the games I like to play are how they look. I'm someone who loves art so it usually ends up being a bigger thing to me than it is to a lot of people. well, a game that I've been playing that is just gorgeous is the Newest Legend of Zelda game: Breath of the Wild. The entire game is art, the graphics, the soundtrack, the style. The calm music that plays throughout the game and the piano that plays when you extract data from a shrine. Everything just fits. The art and the art style of the game is just beautiful, the way the animation looks and flows leaves me in awe even after I've played for more than 15 hours. I think that a lot of games for the switch tend to have good graphics but this one surpasses them all. Everything in the game is designed to be beautiful, even the ugly monsters are designed so well that it's hard to call them ugly. The actual game play even looks just as good as the cut scenes do which is saying something. I also like that Zelda is genuinely a strong character in this game instead of just acting out the helpless princess that needs saving trope. I haven't even gotten that far in the game for how long I've spent on it because there's just a lot to do. There's shrines to go to, monsters to kill, and of course the main villain Ganon to defeat. The game lets you pretty much just go wherever you want but there are quests that eventually lead up to fighting Ganon but for right now I'm pretty much just exploring. All of the people in the game have personality with funny designs and some people being nice but some people being mean. It's currently my favorite game for the Nintendo Switch and I can't wait to play more.
There are many different types of ways to animate. One of those ways is traditional animation. Although nowadays a lot more people have stopped using traditional animation because of how time consuming it is, it's still a prominent form of animation. Traditional animation is when each individual frame is drawn for the animation and then they're all combined together to create the illusion of movement. As you can imagine, taking the time to draw each tiny bit of movement can take a lot of time especially when more frames is better than less in terms of how smooth the animation will end up looking. For a lot of movies that use traditional animation, it'll have 12 separate drawings go by for each second of the movie (if it's 24 frames per second). Something that happens a lot now is that traditional animation will get combined with other forms of animation. Although it's less common to see things fully animated traditionally, it does still happen and there still are shows and movies that stick to that style. Personally traditional animation is the only type of animation I've done so far so I'm excited to learn some other forms of it too. I also think programs like illustrator will be good for things like the art aspect of animation.

On my switch I also got Mario Odyssey which has turned out to be a great game and here's why...The graphics in Mario Odyssey are amazing. When I first got the game I would walk around the levels and just admire how beautiful the game was. When graphics for a game are that good, it makes you feel like you're actually in the game while you're playing. It's crazy. One level where I really liked the way things looked was the desert level. The way that the sand gets kicked up when you run and just the overall atmosphere of it is just so intricate. The water level was really cool too and the way the graphics looked really brought all the sea creatures to life.
Colors are something we see all the time in our daily lives. When you're designing something, it could be a character, a landscape, or anything in between, the colors you use are more important than you think. Certain colors go well together but certain colors also go pretty terribly together. In your designs if your colors down't work well together it can be uninteresting or if the colors clash too much it can hurt the viewers eyes to look at your creation. If you're going to print something you can't use RGB colors but if you're going to display something on your screen, it would be better not to use CMYK. Color theory is complicated but it's necessary to create a good design.
Everyone knows what Wii Sports is, if you had a Wii growing up it was a game you were sure to have. It had many sports all packed into one game that you could play with your friends and family, and it made up a lot of people's childhoods. Even if playing Wii Sports doesn't count as exercising, there's still a lot it teaches the kids who play it about sports. A lot of what I know about baseball is stuff that I learned from sports video games like Wii Sports, because it really does help you learn the rules to the game. Wii Sports can actually help get people into sports in real life too, if you really like a certain sport in the game then you might be inspired to try it in real life too. It's true you might not be good at it in real life but at least it inspired you to give it a try. |
